With “Fairy,” Milwaukee Rapper MyaaP Shows She’s Queen of Viral Hits

Milwaukee artist MyaaP is catching fire with her bouncy new single “Fairy.” The 2-minute track includes all of the hallmarks for a viral hit. A too-catchy-to-forget chorus, and a danceable beat paired with a fun dance being done by TikTokers, basketball players, and fellow artists like Doechii and Justin Bieber. The track has racked up 1.4 million YouTube views in three weeks, close to eclipsing the 1.6 million views of her previous big single “Wham,” which has been out since November of 2023. On TikTok, the track has already been used in almost half a million videos.

“Fairy” has Myaap poised for a new level of notoriety, but it’s not her first brush with viral stardom. Those just learning about her may not realize she’s been having viral moments for several years now, but a moment like “Fairy” has been inevitable. The track is her third single of 2025, following “Move” and “Do Yo Shi” (released alongside her name twin, fellow artist Miah P). “Fairy’s” foundation is the kind of catchy and affirming hook for anyone looking to embrace their inner fairy (with a fatty), or imitate her signature “on my doddy” ad-lib. Not everyone feels “Fairy” is magical; some listeners have expressed they aren’t fond of the track’s hook, Myaa’s bars, or the sparse beat, but genuinely individualist art rarely meets the mark for everyone. It’s reaching the right people, such as Doechii, Sexyy Red, and several WNBA players who’ve had fun dancing to the track. It was recently played at a New York Liberty game (where she also grooved alongside team dancers).

The 19-year-old artist first started rapping while having fun with her brother. But things got serious when she trended on TikTok with “Party Crackin,” a thumping, lo-fi ode to being “out all night.” She’s become a key figure in Milwaukee’s upcoming low-end scene, where producers weave bass drums and sputtering hi-hats into uptempo tracks ripe for ass-shaking (See: JP’s “Bad Bitty” or Ayooli’s “Uncle Sam.”) On a low-end beat, all an artist has to do is give its gyrating listeners a couple of memorable chants and phrases. Last year, MyaaP opened up for Veeze on his Ganger tour, and she released her album The Bigger Picture in December. The 10-song project is an unbridled dose of a swaggering MyaaP sounding like she’s 10 times taller than her little frame.

Myaa told Fader that she gets in the booth with the intent to go viral. “I always start off with a beat and the hook,” she told writer Tarisai Ngangura, adding, “People don’t really listen to the lyrics no more, so the beat needs to be catchy.” And that mentality is reflected in Myaa’s biggest hits. 2023’s “Wham,” featuring Lil RB, is her biggest moment to date, with her rapping, “if you got a little booty, go on, make that shit clap” over synth plucks and drums that would make the stodgiest person follow directions. Similar can be said of her Petey Pablo-sampling “From The Front,” where ClydeTheProducer puts rapidfire drums under “Freek-A-Leek’s” iconic synths. Her lithe voice belies full-chested boasts like “I got my way with this shit, yeah I’m up racks.”

She’s mastered virality and her tracks have spread heavily on TikTok, where she has over 507,000 followers. Her grid currently contains numerous posts of people dancing to “Fairy,” helping the song spread across the platform. And she embraces her TikTok base — the “Hts” music video interspersed clips of her dancing with TikTok videos of fans “hitting their shit.” Last July, she spoke to Rolling Stone amid concerns of an impending TikTok ban, noting that the platform helped her elevate “a lot.” MyaaP is reaching who she’s supposed to with “Fairy” and gaining hordes of new fans in the process.
