Are you ready for the takedown? It was an unexpected surprise for fictional groups Huntr/x and Saja Boys to completely dominate the summer, but now they’re making real waves on the charts (and in our hearts). Six songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack have now taken over Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, with “Golden” and Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” having just risen into the top 10 slots. And while we won’t be attending their concerts anytime soon (boo!), off the heels of this success, fans can now pick up the film’s soundtrack on vinyl.

The LP features 12 tracks from the hit Netflix animated film such as “Takedown,” “How It’s Done,” “Soda Pop,” “What It Sounds Like,” and more. Built by some of the biggest names in K-pop production, including THEBLACKLABEL, co-founded by Teddy Park, the fictional stars of the soundtrack have since even outpaced Spotify records set by real-life superstars BTS and Blackpink. But the voices are very real, and the album features singing performances by Ejae as Rumi, Audrey Nuna as Mira, Rei Ami as Zoey, Andrew Choi as Jinu of the Saja Boys, and former U-KISS member Kevin Woo as the singing voice of the Mystery Saga.

“It’s crazy! Unbelievable,” songwriter EJAE recently told Rolling Stone over Zoom from her home studio in New York. “Has any songwriter been like, ‘It’s charting? What a disaster!’” songwriter Mark Sonnenblick added, laughing. “We loved the songs and believed in the music. It’s just a testament to the hundreds of people who worked on this film. The film supports the music. The music supports the film. It’s amazing.”

With the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, fans will also get a fold-out poster and photo card (random 1 of 3), which are typical of real-life K-pop groups as well. Fans can also score the soundtrack on CD online, which releases on August 22. A limited-edition 7-inch vinyl has also been selling out fast, featuring a rendition of “Takedown” by TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung on Side A, who recently performed the song during their set at Lollapalooza (along with a drone show medley of other tracks from the film). The film version performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami on Side B.

The album peaked at Number Two on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has already become the highest-debuting soundtrack of the year. KPop Demon Hunters is also the first movie since Disney’s Encanto (2022) to place two songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, after “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” reached Number One while “Surface Pressure” peaked at Number Eight.
