I have big plans over Memorial Day weekend to get some shopping in. I don’t usually buy anything from Memorial Day sales, but with all of the uncertainty about tariffs and prices in the U.S. I’ve been feeling like I should make my purchases now rather than wait to see if prices go up or not. More specifically, I’ve been meaning to upgrade my gaming setup for years and it’s starting to feel like a now or never situation.
Most of the Memorial Day sales have been live since last week, and I’ve primarily been browsing the Wayfair sale for various furniture items. I’m specifically looking for a new office chair and desk as well as a nice bookcase to store my games, and the Wayfair sale has overall been the easiest website to navigate so far. I’ve also been looking at IGN’s picks for best gaming chair and gaming desks to help broaden my search to other popular brands.
If you’re looking to upgrade your own gaming setup or office during these sales, here are my suggestions for how to go about it.
Start With the Wayfair Sale

Sort through thousands of home and office deals.
Although the Amazon Memorial Day sale has the most discounts on everything, Wayfair seems to have the most discounts on furniture. I’m suggesting this as a good starting point because of the sheer quantity of deals, but also because of how easy it is to filter out everything that isn’t a Memorial Day deal. You can also use filters to narrow down every product category by dimensions, material, color, price, etc. Even if you don’t end up buying anything from here, it’s still a good place to narrow down what you actually want for your space. I’ve used Wayfair to buy things like bookshelves, rugs, lamps, and tables and would generally recommend them for things like that.
That being said, Wayfair doesn’t always have all of the best brands. Their prices are usually pretty good for standard furniture items, but it’s not necessarily the best place to buy a really nice office chair or a gaming-specific desk.
Splurge on Comfort Only
If you’re upgrading your whole setup, I’d recommend splurging on the chair only. I am still deciding which chair I’m going to buy, but I already know it’s the thing I’m spending the most money on. My current office chair is literally falling apart and I have it held together with a pair of sweatpants I wrapped around it. Anything would be an upgrade at this point, but since I’m planning to both work and play games in this chair I’m being picky. I still haven’t decided on whether I’m going to get a gaming chair or an office chair, but IGN has recommended the Secretlab Titan Evo and I’m very tempted by that now that there’s a Secretlab sale happening.

Get Your Accessories at Amazon
The final, and arguably most important step, is customizing your gaming setup. This means things like RGB lights, mouse pads, laptop stands, headset holder, Steam Deck docks, and everything else that actually attunes your battle station to you. For this I’ve found that Amazon has generally had the best prices on a lot of these things. Sure, Wayfair has a cardboard cutout of Darth Vader on sale, but for everything else Amazon has been where I’ve been shopping.

Although I have no intention of buying a TV myself, it is worth noting that Amazon also has some of the best Memorial Day TV deals I’ve seen so far. Most notably, the LG C4 dropped to a new all-time low on Amazon and is an excellent gaming TV for both console and PC gamers.
Upgrade Your Gaming PC While You Can
I don’t currently have a good gaming PC and have absolutely no room in my budget for one right now. I primarily use my Steam Deck deck and Nintendo Switch for gaming, which has been great for mobility but not for performance. I would love to upgrade to a new PC with an RTX 5090, but with GPU prices on the rise and a potential Switch 2 purchase in my future it just doesn’t seem like its in the cards for me right now.
That being said, if you are looking for a new gaming laptop or PC, Memorial Day sales are actually a really good time to shop for that. I’d recommend checking out the Dell Memorial Day sale first, but there are also discounts at HP, Lenovo, Best Buy, and more. Here are all of the biggest sales I’ve found in that category.
