Logic Debuts Comedy ‘Paradise Records’ Trailer

Kevin Smith serves as the film’s executive producer, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juicy J, and more appear in the chaotic comedy

Seven years ago, Logic announced that he had written a comedy film. “I love range, as far as acting, from like drama and all types of stuff, but if I’m going to come out the gate, I just want to make people laugh,” he said during On Air With Ryan Seacrest at the time, teasing that the film would revolve around a record store, but not giving much past that.

On Friday, Logic once against traversed genres, and released the trailer for Paradise Records, which he both directs and stars in. A quick synopsis of the film reads: “Cooper is trying to keep the doors of Paradise Records open with its motley crew of entertaining employees, even as the world works against him.” The clip opens with Cooper (played by Logic) behind the counter of his neighborhood record shop before cutting to a scene of the hard-pressed store owner getting the news that he needs a whopping $178,000 to keep the music alive.

From there, a cast of charming characters come through including his honey-toting father, quick-witted uncle, and a rollicking cast that includes Deidrich Bader, David Krumholtz, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juicy J, Phil Lamarr, Kevin Smith, Martin Starr, Tony Revolori, and more. While the trailer promises a chaotic series of events from a robbery to a “plot twist,” the film will no doubt be centered around “the hero’s journey where something crazy happens” and Cooper will have to “figure it out.”

The upcoming film is set to premiere on June 6 at Tribeca Film Festival. Kevin Smith executive produced the project, alongside Logic, Jordan Monsanto, and Liz Destro. Tramayne Hudson, Reed Northrup, and Mary Elizabeth Kelly also star in the film.
