The CDC is scaling back its FoodNet program, cutting active monitoring of six foodborne illnesses including listeria, shigella and vibrio, while continuing to track only salmonella and E. coli. Health experts warn the change, driven by budget cuts, could make it harder to detect and respond to outbreaks.
